Our Story
SmileForMum was born from a deeply personal experience and a growing realisation that something fundamental was missing in how our communities are supported.
While caring for my mother in her later years, I became increasingly aware of how oral and general health needs are often overlooked, treated as a “luxury” rather than an essential part of dignity, wellbeing, and quality of life. I saw how easily pain is normalised, especially among Black elders, due to fear, cost, long waiting times, and lack of culturally sensitive care.
After my mother passed away, I reflected on what could have been different, not just for her, but for so many elders navigating these challenges in silence.

Our Vision
SmileForMum’s mission is to improve access to medical and dental care for Black elders by raising awareness, removing practical and emotional barriers, and providing culturally sensitive support.
We work with elders, families, and communities to help people navigate healthcare systems with confidence, dignity, and care.
Our vision is a future where Black elders can access healthcare without fear, barriers, or shame — and where medical and oral health are recognised as essential parts of healthy ageing.
We envision communities where elders feel supported, valued, and able to live with comfort and confidence — one smile at a time.
